In St st using 3 strands on size 11 needle 10 sts and 13 rows = 4"/10 cm                                                                                                                                                                   

ABBREVIATIONS

M1 (increase):Make 1 st in strand between 2 sts

sl 1 p:slip 1 purlwise

ssk (decrease):Slip 2 sts, one at a time KNITWISE to right-hand needle, return sts to left-hand needle in turned position and knit them together through the back loops.

BODY

Using one strand each of A, B and C held together, CO 116 (120, 130, 142, 154, 166) sts.

Row 1: Sl 1 p, knit to last st, p1.

Repeat Row 1 for Garter st. Work even until piece measures 3 (3, 3, 3 1/2, 4, 4)" from beginning, ending with RS row. Place markers (pm) for side seams on each side of center back 50 (52, 56, 62, 66, 72) sts.

Change to St st. Keeping 4 (4, 4, 5, 5, 6) sts at beg and end of every row in Garter st as established, work even until piece measures 6 (6, 6, 6 1/2, 6 , 6 1/2)” from beginning, ending with WS row.

Shape Sides and Fronts 

Shape Row 1: Sl 1 p, k3 (3, 3, 4, 4, 5), ssk, knit to 3 sts before marker, ssk, k1, sl marker (sm), k1, k2tog; repeat from * once, work to 6 (6, 6, 7, 7, 8) sts from end, k2tog, k3 (3, 3, 4, 4, 5), p1 -- 110 (114, 124, 136, 148, 160) sts. Continue in pattern as established, repeat Shape Row 1 every 6 rows twice; At the same time, when piece measures 8 1/2 (9, 10, 10 , 9 1/2, 9)” from beginning work buttonhole as follows:

RS: Sl 1, k2, k2tog, yo twice, ssk, k to end

WS: Purl to yo, knit in front and back of yo, k to end.

Repeat buttonhole on Right front every 10 rows.

Work even on 98 (102, 112, 124, 136, 148) sts until piece measures 12 1/2 (13, 13 1/2, 13 1/2, 13 12)” from beginning, ending with WS row.

Shape Row 2: Sl 1 p, k3 (3, 3, 4, 4, 5), knit to 2 sts before marker, M1, k1, sm , k1, M1; repeat from * once, work to 4 (4, 4, 5, 5, 6) sts from end,  k3 (3, 3, 4, 4, 5), p1 -- 102 (106, 108, 120, 132, 144) sts.

Divide for Front and Back

(RS) K30 (31, 34, 37, 41, 44) sts, place on holder for Right Front, k50 (52, 56, 62, 66, 72) turn, placing remaining 30 (31, 34, 37, 41, 44) sts on holder for Left Front.

Back

Shape Armholes

(WS) Dec 1 st each side every row 3 (3, 5, 5, 7, 7) times -- 44 (46, 46, 52, 52, 58) sts.

(RS) Dec 1 st each side every other row 4 (4, 3, 6, 5, 6) times -- 36 (38, 40, 40, 42, 46) sts.

Work even until armhole measures 8 1/2 (9, 9 1/2, 10, 10 1/2, 11)" from beginning of shaping, ending with WS row. Pm each side of center 10 (10, 10, 12, 12, 14) sts for neck.

Shape Shoulders and Neck

(RS) BO 3 (4, 5, 5, 4, 4) sts at beginning of next 2 rows, then 4 (4, 4, 4, 5, 5) sts at beginning of next 4 rows for shoulders; At the same time, on first row of shoulder shaping, work across to marker; join a second ball of yarn and BO center sts; work to end. Working both sides at same time, at each neck edge BO 2 (2, 2, 1, 1, 2) sts once.

 

LEFT FRONT

With RS facing attach yarn at armhole edge. Shape armhole as for Back; At the same time, when piece measures 3 (3, 3 1/2, 3 1/2, 3 1/2, 4)” from beginning of shaping, ending with RS row

Shape Neck and Shoulder

(WS) At neck edge, bind off 4 (5, 5, 6, 6, 8) sts, finish row.

(RS) At neck edge, dec 1 st every row 8 (7, 8, 7, 9, 9) times – 11 (12, 13, 13, 14, 14) sts.

Work even until armhole measures same as Back to shoulder shaping, ending with WS row.

Shape Shoulder as for Back.

 

RIGHT FRONT

Work as for Left Front, rev all shaping and working buttonhole as established.

 

SLEEVES

Using 3 strands yarn, CO 30 (30, 34, 34, 36, 38) sts.

Work in Garter st until piece measures 3 (3, 3, 3 1/2, 4, 4)" from beginning, ending with RS row.

Change to St st. Work 4 rows even, ending with WS row.

Shape Sleeve

(RS) Inc 1 st each side this row, then every 7 (5, 6, 5, 4, 4) rows 4 (5, 5, 7, 7, 7) times -- 38 (40, 44, 48, 50, 52) sts. Work even until piece measures 17 (17 1/2 17 1/2, 18, 18, 18 1/2)" from beginning, ending with WS row.

Shape Cap

(RS) Dec 1 st each side every row 5 (5, 6, 6, 7, 7) times -- 28 (30, 32, 36, 36, 38) sts.

Dec 1 st each side every RS row 6 times -- 16 (18, 20, 24, 24, 26) sts.

Dec 1 st each side every row 4 (5, 4, 6, 5, 6) times -- 8 (8, 12, 12, 14, 14) sts.

BO 2 (2, 2, 2, 3, 3) sts at beginning of next 2 rows.

BO remaining 4 (4, 8, 8, 8, 8) sts.

 

FINISHING

Block pieces to measurements.  Set in Sleeves; sew sleeve seams.

Collar

With WS facing and beginning at Left Front edge, PU and k19 (21, 21, 23, 25, 25) sts along Left Front neck edge, pm, 14 (14, 14, 14, 18, 18) sts on Back neck, pm, 19 (21, 21, 23, 25, 25) sts along Right Front neck – 52 (56, 56, 60, 68, 68) sts.

Row 1 (WS): Sl 1 p, knit to last st, p1.

Row 2 (RS).  Sl 1 p, *knit to marker, M1, sm; repeat from * once, knit to last st, p1

Repeat Rows 1 and 2 (inc 2 sts every other row) until collar measures 4 (4, 4, 4 1/2, 4 1/2, 5)” from beginning. Bind off loosely.

Sew buttons opposite buttonholes.
